We're now following the railroad out of Skagway. For the first several miles the tracks and highway are on opposite sides of a deep canyon.

The train to Lake Bennett, British Columbia, has a boxcar tucked in behind a single shovel-nosed GE unit. The diminutive train crosses one of many bridges on the route.

This scene gives some idea of how vast the Alaska scenery is. The train crosses the middle of a waterfall on its northbound run. There really is a train in the picture somewhere.

Before long, the highway and railroad part company until near Fraser. For the rest of the climb up to White Pass Summit we'll need to ride the train to get photos. A work train with blue MLW No.114 on the point is in the siding for the afternoon train to the Summit.
