Think New England and you think "covered bridges." There is a classic covered bridge along the Green Mountain at Bartonville.

When Steamtown U.S.A. was located in Vermont, its base of operations was Riverside, three miles north of Bellows Falls. With Steamtown now in Pennsylvania, the Green Mountain has redevelped the Riverside location into a bustling freight transloading and switching yard. The MAC's have run around their train and are ready to head north, meeting Vermont Railway GP40 303 working Riverside.

Heading north, now with SD90/43MAC 139 on the point, the train passes the covered bridge at Bartonville once again.

TT3607

After rolling through a narrow river valley north of Gassetts, the train pops back into civilization again at Cavendish.

TT3608

Next stop for switching on the northbound run is Ludlow, where the station still stands.
