On March 11, 1998, while visiting California for Winterail, I had the opportunity to spend the day chasing the Sierra Railroad with the man who is synonymous with the Sierra -- Ted Benson.

The engine house in Oakdale is the home of Sierra's famed Baldwins.

At the engine house Ted Benson admires GP9 46 with Baldwin S12s 40 and 42.

Just outside Oakdale, GP9 46 passes a blossoming tree on its eastbound run.

Near the Warnerville Road crossing, GP9 46 heading east is reflected in a puddle.
