The Lackawanna Cut-Off rises from the old main line and swings across the old main line and the Delaware River on a concrete arch viaduct. Our train passes under the Cut-Off as it approaches the town of Slateford, not far from the end of the line at Portland.

After switching in Portland, setting off interchange cars for Norfolk Southern and picking up cars for the return to Scranton, the crew goes to lunch at a convenient restaurant in Portland. We take a good look at M636 No.3643 during the break. In addition to dropping cars for the D-L, Norfolk Southern serves a power plant in Portland.

Growling up from the floor of the Delaware River valley, the train passes a paper plant between East Stroudsburg and Analomink, now with the six-axle Alco on the point.

Back at Cresco, we get one more look at the westbound train as it passes the restored station. The sun is just about to set, ending our day of chasing the D-L's Alco-powered train through the Pocono Mountains.
