This section was set up on December 19, 2001.

Delaware-Lackawanna Railway, operating a large fleet of Alcos out of Scranton, Pennsylvania, took over operations of the former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western main line between Analomink and Portland, Pennsylvania. The line had been served by Norfolk Southern, coming up from Allentown via Bangor to Portland and beyond. The D-L, which serves a grain mill at Pocono Summit from Scranton, now runs beyond Pocono Summit all the way to Portland. The photos on this section were all taken on October 26, 2001.

The power for the day's trip sits at Bridge 60 in Scranton. M420W No.645 has just come in from switching the Chamberlain plant in Scranton, while our power, D-L C425 No.2461 and M636 No.3643 await the call to action.

Minutes out of Scranton, the eastbound train passes under an ex-Erie branch line (now abandoned) near Dunmore. The last of the fall foliage makes for a colorful valley!

C425 No.2461 pauses next to the depot at Tobyhanna. The train will switch out a couple of tank cars of propane here. The station has been restored by the Pocono Mountains Chapter of the National Railway Historical SOciety and serves as the group's meeting hall and museum.
