From onboard the Wilderness Express we get a view of a meet with a freight train led by Alaska GP40-2 No.3012. The meet is just below Nenana.

Bringing up the rear of the work train is a caboose. The ARR's former federal government ownership is reflected in the U.S.A. paint scheme of the caboose.

From the dome of the Wilderness Express we look forward and see the Alaska Railroad's Denali Star as it makes its way through the majestic mountains north of Denali National Park.

Near the town of Healy, the railroad drops into a spectacular gorge and passes through two small tunnels. The first tunnel is just ahead.
